TMNT: VILLAIN MICRO-SERIES!

Sat Feb 2, 2013, 8:04 PM
  • Watching: chronicles of riddick
  • Drinking: tea. earl grey. slightly tepid.
the press release went up yesterday about IDW's new batch of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles micro-series issues, this time focusing on the bad guys!! check out the full info here! they got some awesome people, like Erik Burnham & Andy Kuhn on Baxter Stockman and Dave Wachter on Old Hob. so cool.

so, with writer Brian Lynch, i'm drawing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Alopex issue! i'm super pumped to do it, i've been really interested in Alopex since her debut in the Raphael micro issue by Brian Lynch and Franco Urru, and back in 2011 i drew what i like to believe is the very first Alopex fanart, here!!! i'm not sure if it's actually the first Alopex fanart ever but i like to pretend!! :D

Franco Urru, who drew Alopex's first appearance in the Raphael issue, was slated to draw this issue but as some of you may know he passed away in November. it's a lot to shoulder and big shoes to fill under sad and unfortunate circumstances, but i'm aiming to do Franco proud. i hope i can pull it off.

i'm not sure when the Alopex issue comes out, i think this summer, so stay tuned!

You did fantastic in Leonardo's microseries, so you will definitely make Franco proud! I look forward to adding this microseries volume to my collection. Keep up the great work! (:

Not a problem. I would consider myself a rather big fan. Currently collecting your variant covers for TMNT. Spent $15 on your "Turtles vs Slash" cover at one of my local comic shops on Tuesday. Completely worth it. Thanks for the artwork!

Just about every variant is between $10 - $20 dollars. From Marvel to DC to IDW. It's crazy, yes. But when you love the character or the artwork, it's often very worth it. (: Keep it up!

no way, that's bullshit, your shop is jacking up the prices independently. they're gouging you, man. they should be cover price. i've gotten variant covers at cover price just fine and most TMNT fans i know also get them at regular price.

Damn! All four shops here have them around that price for me. :/ I know one of the shops is definitely a rip off. But that's shocking about the others. I guess I don't mind TOO much because I usually buy from my main shop and I'm always open for helping them out. We lost my first comic shop here not too long ago because it was low on business. The one I go to now was bought out by a local popular tattoo parlor so it changed the name but it's still running. It is in fact bullshit that all of them have those prices here, but as long as it's from my favorite shop I guess I'm not too upset. At least I've only purchased your TMNT covers and any of the Colossus variants. Thanks for informing me!

yeah, it's cool if you're cool with it, and it's always good to help out these shops. and if you're happy with paying that much then that's cool, i over-pay on things on sometimes too just because i want to support it. but it's still not necessary for the stores to jack up the price that high, and it kind of comes off as them preying on collectors. i guess the real root problem is the concept of variant covers themselves and the idea of collectibility which is kind of a problem.
