Has anyone ever told you that Noah has....elegant eyes? XD

I mean, that's the first thing I noticed about the guy are his EYELASHES! At least I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to draw eyelashes on mah guys! :la:

And poor Shadoweyes...I had no idea she couldn't smell. Of course, with her powers she must have a sense that makes up for it.

i don't think anyone's ever commented to me specifically about Noah's eyes but i regularly hear people saying that Noah looks like a girl or even thinking he's a girl at first or whatever, etc. which is fine, it's true, but i think that's also symptomatic of how female-ness is coded in many cultures and particularly in cartooning. like things that say a character is a girl are eyelashes, lips, hairbows, that sort of thing, like i had one reviewer complaining about Noah's lips when in reality it's not like eyelashes or lips are exclusively female traits, heh. i know many dudes, including myself, who have both of those things! :XD:

My comic teacher has made it clear that he HATES this trope with a capital H. He'd rather have people design their characters based on how they believe the character should act and feel rather than relying so heavily on gender tropes and all that. Its funny though because the day he was talking about this, I showed him a drawing of one of my characters dressed in what I call her 'hiding outfit' and he that 'He looks cool doing all of this!' And when I said that it was a GIRL, he started cracking up...but the best comment followed this when someone said;

'You couldn't tell that was a GIRL!? WHAT DUDE HAS A NICE ASS LIKE THAT!?'

As said, I used the line in one of my scripts because it was just too awesome.

i think that's awesome your teacher is aware of this stuff and teaches it, it's great to hear people are teaching about gender-related tropes.

Yeah, he mentions that is better to create characters based on the context of the personality rather than trying to make them as 'pretty' as possible which does include a lot of gender tropes.

hry mooncalfe, if shadoweyes hasnt got a nose, and her mouth is generally more closed that open in the comic... how does she break the other times?
