this is a redux/revisitation of an old Scout/Sparkle drawing from a couple years ago, the piece that's on the back cover of the first SHADOWEYES book.
i started this drawing quite a while ago intending it to be part of a gallery exhibition; the original Scout/Sparkle drawing was selected for a gallery exhibition but i wanted the gallery to feature a new work so i wanted to tweak and update the drawing, but quickly decided to scrap it and stick with the original. i don't really like doing revamps of old drawings so i never finished it and it sat incomplete on my computer for months.
then recently i was putting together an image for a display banner and i always liked this image and felt like it encapsulates Shadoweyes, and i wanted to use new art so i picked the unfinished revamp back up but then decided not to use it after all a second time! but, it's finally being used as promo for a panel i'm on in New York City in October, so it finally found a purpose. i was going to shade it like the original piece it's based on but i decided to go with the flat unshaded colors and keep it simple.
what a boring story!

next Scout/Sparkle drawing i do i'll have to change it up and have Scout trying to hug Sparkle instead.
