Ah-ha! I knew that selective hair growth was too good to be true, Fern! In either case, the fact Fern weas falsies is a bit of a surprise. She doesn't strike me as someone that into vanity.

i don't know, i wouldn't say Fern is above vanity. she sure was rocking the vinyl outfits in the first couple books, those were pretty ostentatious.

i also think maybe there's a difference between vanity and simply wanting to look a certain way, or dressing in a way that you like or that you think looks good, doesn't pretty much everybody do that? plus Fern has the additional consideration of her unusual looks, even though she doesn't dress herself up to hide it very much, other than mentioning in the past she wore a wig to hide her baldness, i figure she's gotta be a little self-conscious about it, you know? or maybe she just likes big dark eyelashes, heh.

Oh Fern..I love Fern. I remember when I got to the page when she's dressed as a mummy waiting for trick or treaters and none come. and she just looks SO SAD. and I wanted to somehow get into the comic and be her friend.
