i only discovered wet moon recently and was attracted by the beautiful artwork done for it!!! i LOVED iT! but i must say i like cleo's look waaay more in the first 1 and was pretty disappointed with the change in the 2nd and the others with her EYES! here is a pretty good example of what im saying her eyes suddenly became HUGE in the next 1 i read and she looks like a bug now!
thanks for checking out the series!! it's all right, most people hated the cartoonier artwork and Cleo's eyes and everything, you're definitely in the majority, heh. i posted a journal entry about it a couple years ago, if you're interested in reading it: [link]
thank you so much for writing a response to your fans about the changes even though ive only discovered wet moon recently, i quickly became very passionate about the artwork as its FANTASTiC! but a felt a little let down when i saw the changes in Cleo in the second and third but now after reading what you've said about your style changes and whether consistency took away from your characters unique personality i've come to respect your decisions more am learning to love it and yes ive made peace with Cleo's eyes now thank u
i'm glad you're cool with it! even if people don't like it, they're certainly not obligated, i wrote that post so they can at least see where i'm coming from and understand it better.
Wet Moon is such an experiment for me, and even though i'm almost 30 years old i'm still in my formative years as an artist, so things are always changing and growing whether i have control over them or not (usually not). i'm still figuring out what i want Wet Moon and my other work to be. i have to follow my gut and my heart!!
one of the reasons things changed a lot particularly in Wet Moon 3, can't remember if i mentioned this in that journal post, is that during the book i did before WM3 and right after WM2, Water Baby, i started getting bad hand/thumb pains from inking so much so i had to stop inking my comics and was forced to use a pencil instead. but i still have some kind of tendinitis in my drawing arm, so even with the pencil it was difficult, but just the change in art tools plus the arm limitations automatically changed my approach, and caused changes in the artwork that might not have otherwise happened if i was able to keep inking like i always had. that's also why Wet Moon 3 looks kind of jaggy and loose, because i literally couldn't do any better because of my arm! but after that i took a long break and my arm is pretty good now, that's why volume 4 and everything after looks a lot smoother, but the cartoony style stuck around after i discovered how much i liked it.
tiger uppercut!!!

When Cleo's evil side comes out again!
And what's with the guy bumping into Cleo in the mosh pit? He better make sure he doesn't piss her off!
the mosh pit dude will definitely get what's comin' to him.
