found these when i was digging around in old folders! these were character sketches for The Abandoned 2, done way back in 2006 when the book was still supposed to happen.

trying to remember their names off the top of my head, left to right: Diesel, Skull, Tusk, Squid, Buzz, JC, Shark, and Sword. pretty sure those are right, it's been a while. :XD:

kind of embarrassing seeing these now, but that's how it goes with artwork you've done years ago. i would definitely design these characters differently now.

here were the first three in case you missed them, uploaded in 2006, but edited to include the characters' names since this shit doesn't need to be secret anymore:

but, you know, this stuff's almost 4 years old, so i see all the things i'd do differently and all the mistakes that most people can't see. ;)

I know what you mean, it's the same for me. But these are still awesome! :P

What would have to happen for you to be able to publish the next book anyway? Would TokyoPop have to relinquish the rights to it?

yeah, TP would have to relinquish the rights for me to do it legally. otherwise i'd have to self-publish it somehow, since no other publisher is likely to want to do it for fears of getting sued, even if i changed the title and everything (which i'm going to do anyway). but i have some plans for the sequel, should i get the time to do it, to be under-the-radar, under a new title, the setting is totally different, new cast, etc. so i think it'll be sufficiently different from the original book that things should be okay. at first i was all secretive and paranoid about revealing this stuff publicly/online, fearing TP's reprisal or something, but i don't really care anymore so there it is. :XD:

You know, they kinda remind me of your designs for the Lintha pirates in Exalted. Maybe a little more modern, but still wonderfully creepifying!

haha, my clothing choices get LESS few, since these designs were done over 3 years ago. if i redesigned all the characters now they'd be much more covered up.
