hello again!
news:
-Secrets of the Ooze has finally updated! chapter 3 begins! the Turtles travel 66 million years into the past and have mutated into human form. and Pepperoni returns!

-i'm drawing the new Jem & the Holograms comic from IDW, with writer Kelly Thompson!! issue #1 comes out in March. i finished drawing the first issue and i'm doing some promo art right now before i get started on issue #2. it's been awesome working on it so far, i'm so surprised by how much freedom we've been given.

-a new Shadoweyes book is coming out from Iron Circus Comics late this year! it's going to reprint volumes 1 and 2 in color in one big book, with edits and new stuff, like a director's cut.

-i want to draw some new Alien pictures. :hmm:

Wanted to say that I absolutely adore your work on the TMNT comics, also I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing what program you use as well as the brush you use when you ink?

I've been looking around the comments but couldn't really find anything, so sorry if this has been asked a million times before!

thanks! :) i use different tools, which work are you referring to, specifically? sometimes i use Photoshop, sometimes Sai, sometimes ink pen, other times brush, sometimes a combination. it varies a lot!

Mostly this one. I can't get over how nice the inking is, as well as the masterful, almost abstract use of your negative and positive space. You really balanced everything so nicely that it's just as good, if not better without the color(at least in my opinion). I've done quite a few studies on just this page alone to be honest, I really love it! ^^

So yeah, I suppose the tools you used to create this(brush, program, etc). I often find myself jumping between Manga Studio and Photoshop and I'm trying to pick which one is more practical at the moment. Thought I'd see which one you prefer, though I wouldn't mind going back to sai if that's what you used here.

Also, if you can remember any special thing about when you worked on this issue, perhaps your creative thought process, I definitely wouldn't mind hearing it!

thank you so much! :) that page was done with micron ink pens and a brush with sumi ink. i did the characters in pen and the backgrounds with brush, which is how most of Northampton was done, other than certain scenes (like Leo's nightmare was all brush, then his Tang Shen vision was pencil, stuff like that). i hope that helps! most of my TMNT stuff was done traditionally, except for my Alopex issue which i drew in Sai.

I am so sad to see this re-design of Jem and the Holograms and that it's being endorsed by IDW.  I have no issues with modernizing them, but this is so stereotypical.  Take what *was* a smart, empowered woman who ran her own business, as well as a foster care home for young girls and turn her (and her friends) into hyper-sexualized teenagers wearing skin-tight, short, flesh bearing clothes.  This trope is over-played and sad.

Hey Ross ! I just wanted to tell you how much I love your art. You're such an inspiration for me, since I love drawing too, and I wish that someday I'll be as good as you ! Well, anyway, I really hope everything is going to be better soon for you, because I'm litteraly DYING to read the next Wet Moon and the next chapter of Can't Look Back.
Well, thanks for making me want to progress and for giving us such great stories.
And, heh, sorry for my English, I don't know if I'm really easy to understand since I'm a French girl :3 (I saw that Glory were translated in French... I can read in English but I was so happy to see that another book of you were published here in France, I hope that it will continue that way so many people will know your awesome art !! :D)

Congrats on Jem. I barely discovered her last year on Netflix. I love the witty and charming characters and dialogue. The new version-YOUR version-definitely looks like something to watch out for!!! 😊

Hey there,
It seems that, lately, I've been contacting you a lot about art that used to be in your gallery…
I was chatting with a friend in :iconblackartsociety: about myths and legends, and it brought to mind a (now rather old) image that you did along those lines.  I forget the details, but it was something about a girl stealing spinach from an ogre-like creature, and hiding in a hole from it, until she got too fat to squeeze in and was caught…  or some such.  ^^;  Anyway, I absolutely loved the expression on the kid's face, as she faced off with the jagged-mawed beasty, and the image has crossed my mind several times over the last few years.  Would you consider re-posting it with the associated story blurb, so we could submit it to the BlackArtSociety?  I think the group would be enriched by its presence, and it generate a little extra publicity for you, just in time for the new Jem books.
Whaddya say?

Theeeere it is!  The Rabbit does another little dance
That pic is one of my all-time faves from you.  It just captured the characters so well in that one shot, and hinted at the story behind them.
I've suggested it to the group.  I hope you'll accept the invitation.
